CALL FOR SCORES
High School Composers
The Portland Symphonic Choir invites high school composers to submit scores for its first ever youth call for scores
Submission Requirements:
Applicants must be high-schoolers or recent high-school graduates – i.e., you must have completed either Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior year at the end of 2024.
Your composition should have at least three voice parts (ex. SAB)
Your composition should be at least three minutes long and no more than ten minutes
If there are instruments, please make a piano reduction.
Singers for the event will include the Portland Symphonic Choir membership, students from the Portland metro area, PSC alumni, and community members.
Prizes:
The three youth composers selected to participate in the Summer Sings New Works reading session will each receive a $200 stipend and coaching from a choral mentor.
One composition of the three will be chosen for performance on Portland Symphonic Choir’s Wintersong 2024 concert. Please note that Wintersong is a choral concert with piano only.
