Important Annual Meeting: Monday, July 20, 7 - 8:15 pm using Zoom. Here's the linkhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/83677965018?pwd=Q2ZMR2tWVXVidGhBRS9RQ0VhOFJpdz09

Each year, about this time and as required by our bi-laws, the Portland Symphonic Choir conducts its Annual Meeting. The purpose is for our membership to hear a recap of how we are doing musically, financially, plans for our coming year, and the election of certain leadership positions. A slate of Directors for our Board will be presented for approval (3 year term) plus this year, the election for Choir President. Under the terms of our bi-laws, elections for President and Vice President are off-set to be every-other year. Last year, we elected Morgan Roe for a 2 year term as Vice President and Dale Webber to complete the remaining year of John Eisemann's 2 year term as President. Nominations may be made "from the floor."

This year's meeting is a particularly important one as "these are unusual times" resulting in an unprecedented plan for our coming year. The meeting will feature many colorful visuals as well as exciting announcements pertaining to our upcoming season(s). It will be great to "see" you there!

From Wendy: As Marilyn Keller said Monday, “Through the Lift Every Voice and Sing virtual project, we have the opportunity to be the pebble that starts the ripple outward.” How can we use our passion for music to show solidarity -- to stand with those who condemn racial violence and oppression? Send in your video for Lift Every Voice and Sing! We had 28 guests and many PSC members at rehearsals so my hope is to get 40 or more recordings. This will allow the video to have a full and effective sound. I know recording yourself at home is not super fun but do it as a way to make a difference. We have a unique opportunity to speak to our community through music and support Don’t Shoot Portland as all net proceeds from the video will go to this local organization. The information for recording, including the foundation tracks, can be found under EVENTS on our website pschoir.org. I am here to help you if you have any questions wbamonte@comcast.net. Videos are due Monday! Thank you in advance for using your voice to show solidarity.

From Alissa: It’s also time to submit your Abendlied video recording. There are now conducting videos on the website emphasizing each voice part with full choir in the background. You can access the recording instructions, conducting videos, sheet music, and markings by going to the MEMBERS page at http://www.pschoir.org (password: pschoir) and clicking the “Instructions to record Abendlied” button. Even if you haven’t been in our Monday meetups, we would love to have your video — just make sure you follow the markings on the “Abendlied Markings” page.

From our music librarians: We are still needing to collect music from about half the Choir! Please check your folder or any other hiding places for PSC music. There are several options for returning the music this weekend (It's a good idea to put your music in a plastic bag to protect it from the elements)
